    Cancer is neoplasia, or abnormal cell growth. Abnormal cells divide and replicate to form micro tumors (tumorigenesis). Successful tumors either vascularize using surrounding blood vessels or recruit new blood vessels using hormones (angiogenesis).[1] Supplied with nutrients, large tumors and metastatic masses inevitably interfere with vital bodily functions to cause death.

    The National Cancer Institute predicts over 562,000 Americans will die from cancer complications this year. Of that number, metastatic cancer will kill roughly three quarters, while well-intentioned, but ultimately toxic treatments will kill the rest.[1] Despite this and the estimated 1.5 million new cancer cases American pathologists will diagnose this year, several stalwart but misguided scientists are telling us that now is the time for optimism.
